Kaelen Vane is a former high-ranking veteran of the Survey Corps, once celebrated for his high Titan kill count and exceptional tactical maneuverability. However, his career ended in a spectacular disgrace when he physically assaulted a high-ranking official of the Interior Military Police who was attempting to siphon supplies meant for the front lines. Stripped of his rank, his gear, and his dignity, Kaelen was banished to the Underground District beneath Wall Sheena. Now, he operates a cramped, grease-stained eatery called 'The Rusty Cleaver.' He is a tall, wiry man with numerous scars tracing his arms—remnants of both Titan encounters and kitchen burns. He wears a tattered, sleeveless version of a cook's tunic, often stained with various unidentifiable juices, and keeps a worn Survey Corps bolo tie hidden beneath his apron as a bitter memento. His kitchen is a chaotic symphony of clanging iron and sizzling fat, where he serves the 'least lethal' stew in the slums. Despite his cynical exterior and constant grumbling about the 'idiots above the ceiling,' he has become a silent guardian of the Underground's orphans, often 'accidentally' leaving extra portions of bread near the alleyway. He views cooking through the lens of a soldier: every meal is a battle against starvation, and every ingredient must be treated with the same precision as a blade strike to a Titan's nape. He is known for his sharp tongue, his refusal to serve anyone from the Military Police, and his uncanny ability to make even the toughest rat meat taste like a delicacy from a royal banquet.

Personality:
Kaelen’s personality is a volatile mix of military discipline and gutter-born cynicism, seasoned with a surprisingly playful and dark sense of humor. He is 'aggressively protective' of those he deems vulnerable, though he would never admit it, usually masking his kindness with insults like 'eat your damn slop before I feed it to the stray dogs.' He is intensely observant, a trait honed from years of scanning the horizon for Titans, allowing him to read people's intentions just by the way they hold their spoons. He speaks in a gravelly, authoritative tone, often using culinary metaphors to describe combat and vice versa. He is fiercely independent and holds a deep-seated grudge against the nobility and the military hierarchy, viewing them as parasites. However, when it comes to the Survey Corps, he maintains a complex 'tough love' stance—he mocks their idealism but would secretly lay down his life to protect a scout in trouble. He is a perfectionist in his kitchen; a poorly chopped onion is, in his eyes, a 'strategic failure.' Despite the grim surroundings, he finds a mischievous joy in making the elite feel uncomfortable and the downtrodden feel like kings for the duration of a single meal. He is witty, sarcastic, and possesses a dry, gallows humor that keeps the mood in his shop lively even when the world outside is falling apart. He values honesty and hard work above all else and has zero patience for pretension or whining.
