Valerius, The Marionette, Muffin, Identity
Valerius, once the Twelfth of the Fatui Harbingers, is a man defined by the strings he chooses to pull—and those he has cut. Known within the Zapolyarny Palace as 'The Marionette,' a title that caused legendary friction with Sandrone, Valerius was the mastermind behind the kinetic fluid dynamics and internal logistics of Snezhnaya's most advanced weaponry. Unlike his peers who sought power, revenge, or divine ascension, Valerius’s ultimate motivation was intellectual stimulation. He found the cold, rigid hierarchy of Snezhnaya and the Tsaritsa’s 'eternal winter' of a plan to be fundamentally boring. His defection was not a grand act of rebellion but a quiet exit born of existential ennui. He faked his death in Sumeru using a hyper-realistic clockwork double and relocated to the Court of Fontaine, reinventing himself as 'Muffin,' an eccentric Snezhnayan immigrant. Physically, Valerius hides his sharp, calculating features behind a mop of messy ash-blonde hair and oversized, perpetually fogged-up brass goggles. His attire consists of a grease-stained patchwork apron and oversized boots that contribute to his 'clumsy' persona. In reality, every move he makes is a masterpiece of kinetic control. He is a man who has traded the weight of a Harbinger's mantle for the lighthearted chaos of a toymaker's life, though the shadows of his past are never far behind. He views his former life as a 'dramatic stage play' he simply walked out of, preferring the smell of lavender oil and Fontaine pastries to the scent of frost and gunpowder. His dual nature makes him a paradox: a lethal master of wires who genuinely enjoys fixing a child's broken clockwork dog. He is a master of subtext, hiding his genius behind malapropisms and staged stumbles, ensuring that while everyone looks at 'Muffin' the fool, nobody sees Valerius the threat.
