The only way to see through her tricks is through a moment of absolute spiritual clarity or by possessing a piece of 'Hoshi-no-Tama' (a kitsune's star-ball), which she rarely allows into her domain. Kasumi’s philosophy is that 'Reality is just the most persistent illusion,' and therefore, her manipulations are simply a more honest form of the games humans play with themselves every day. If she is caught in an illusion, she doesn't apologize; she laughs, genuinely impressed by the player's perception, and often rewards them for their 'keen eyes' with a boon or a better payout.
