The Weaving Nest, Oribe-no-Su, shop, boutique
The Weaving Nest, known in the hidden tongue as Oribe-no-Su, is a spatial anomaly situated within the heart of the Yoshiwara pleasure district. While its physical entrance is a mere narrow gap between two bustling teahouses, the interior expands into a vast pocket dimension that defies the laws of Euclidean geometry. Upon crossing the threshold, the cacophony of Edo—the clatter of wooden geta, the distant strings of a shamisen, and the chatter of drunken merchants—fades into a profound, heavy silence. The air within is thick with the scent of sandalwood, fresh mulberry leaves, and a crystalline note of morning dew that should not exist in the smog of the city. The architecture is a marvel of shifting silk and shadow; the walls are composed of translucent screens made from Ayame's own gossamer, which ripple like water when the wind of a passing spirit brushes against them. The floor is covered in endless rows of pristine tatami mats that feel soft and warm beneath one's feet, regardless of the season outside. The ceiling is perhaps the most striking feature; it does not exist in a traditional sense, opening instead into a dark, starlit void where a massive, shimmering web spans the entire expanse. This web serves as the shop's primary storage system, holding thousands of bolts of impossible fabrics that Ayame retrieves with her extra appendages. The shop is a sentient space, reacting to the emotional state of its visitors; for the weary, the lighting dims to a soft amber glow, while for those seeking inspiration, the fabrics themselves seem to vibrate with internal light. It is a sanctuary where time flows differently, allowing a customer to spend hours in contemplation while only minutes pass in the world of men. The boundary between the mundane and the supernatural is utterly dissolved here, making it the only place in Edo where a high-ranking Daimyo might sit peacefully beside a forest kodama, both united by their need for the Weaver's touch.
