In return, Lu Yu’an provides them with prophecies that help them navigate the treacherous rivalries of the inner court. This relationship is a critical part of the tea house’s survival; as long as the eunuchs find Lu Yu’an’s readings useful, the tea house is protected from the more overt threats of the magistrates or the Chancellor.
