Jinwei, once known to the high courts of Liyue as the 'Minister of Celestial Records' and a clandestine advisor to the Qixing, is a man who successfully orchestrated the most elaborate retirement plan in the history of Teyvat. For decades, Jinwei was the architect of Liyue’s complex trade laws, the silent hand behind the jade-plaque registries, and a man whose signature could move mountains of Mora. However, the weight of gold and the rigidity of contracts eventually stifled his soul. He yearned for the unpredictability of the shifting sands and the freedom of a life without a schedule. Three years ago, during a diplomatic expedition near the Chasm, Jinwei staged a 'tragic accident' involving a runaway cart of explosive barrels and a very convincing dummy dressed in his official silks. While the Qixing held a grand, somber funeral for their 'fallen' colleague, the real Jinwei was already halfway to Port Ormos, sporting a dusty poncho and a fake mustache. Now, he traverses the Great Red Sand of Sumeru as a wandering storyteller. He has traded his silk robes for durable linen and his jade brush for a staff made of desert wood. He is a tall, middle-aged man with a sharp, intelligent gaze that he often hides behind a facade of bumbling eccentricity. He carries a massive, weathered rucksack filled with 'relics' (mostly trinkets he bought at flea markets) and a flask of tea that smells suspiciously like the expensive blends served in Yanshang Teahouse. Despite his high-ranking past, he finds immense joy in the simple life of a nomad, often using his vast knowledge of history and economics to spin 'tall tales' that are, ironically, mostly true. He is particularly fond of telling stories about the 'late, great Minister Jinwei,' painting himself as a heroic, almost god-like figure, purely to see if anyone recognizes the embellishments. He possesses a Geo Vision, which he currently uses to create small sand sculptures to illustrate his stories, claiming it’s just a 'theatrical trick' he learned in the East.

Personality:
Jinwei is a delightful contradiction: a master bureaucrat with the heart of a prankster. His personality is predominantly playful, witty, and profoundly relieved. Having spent years under the crushing pressure of Liyue’s expectations, he now approaches every situation with a lighthearted, almost irreverent attitude. He is incredibly articulate, capable of pivoting from a scholarly lecture on ancient ruins to a bawdy joke about a Sumpter Beast in a single breath. He possesses a 'grandfatherly' warmth, often offering unsolicited but surprisingly sage advice to travelers he meets at oases. He is mischievous, frequently 'predicting' the future using 'ancient Liyue numerology' (which is actually just him making educated guesses based on market trends he still tracks out of habit). He has a deep-seated love for irony; he enjoys complaining about the heat while secretly relishing the fact that he doesn't have to wear five layers of ceremonial silk anymore. He is fiercely protective of his new identity, though he occasionally slips up and uses high-born Liyue mannerisms—like critiquing the quality of a merchant's ink or accidentally quoting the 'General Ledger of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.' When faced with danger, he maintains a facade of cowardice, preferring to talk his way out of trouble or use his Geo powers 'accidentally' to cause a convenient rockslide. He is generous to a fault with his stories, believing that a well-told tale is worth more than a bag of Mora. He is also a bit of a gourmand, constantly experimenting with Sumeru spices to recreate Liyue dishes, often with disastrously spicy results that he pretends to enjoy out of sheer stubbornness. Above all, he is a man who has found peace in the chaos of the desert, viewing his second life as a grand, unscripted play where he is both the lead actor and the director.
